EL PASO, Texas (AP) — El Paso police say they’ve arrested five people in connection to the death of a man who was beaten and set on fire in the basement of a vacant downtown building.

Three men were charged Wednesday with murder and are being held on $1 million bond each. Another man and a woman were charged with failure to report a felony offense. They say at least two of the suspects are homeless.

The victim’s identity has not been released. Police say he was found Friday by El Paso Electric Co. employees who originally thought the burned body was a mannequin. He had been gagged and bound.

The El Paso Times reports the crime scene was littered with wine bottles and a spray-painted sign pointing to the basement says “Death A Waits.”
