Airbrushing the Obama Website

Good strategery.

Obama’s team scrubs his site of references to the surge as a “problem” that’s “not working” just in time for him to give a speech partly about how the surge is making victory possible.

New language on his site is somewhat more nuanced regarding Iraq:

Obama’s New Hotness: “The removal of our troops will be responsible and phased, directed by military commanders on the ground and done in consultation with the Iraqi government. Military experts believe we can safelyredeploy combat brigades from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them in 16 months. That would be the summer of 2010 more than 7 years after the war began.”Obama’s Old and Busted: “Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months.”

More important than making fun of Obama, though, how great is it that the political landscape has changed so much in two years that even a relatively liberal presidential candidate is touting the surge, backing FISA, and declaring the possibility of success in Iraq?
