Pedestrian dies after crash in Woodbridge

A pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle in Prince William County, police said.

About 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, officers went to the scene of the crash. Anthony Eugene Hood, 54, had been crossing Old Bridge Road near Troupe Street in Woodbridge and stepped into the path of a 1999 Mercury Sable Wagon.

Hood, of Woodbridge, was taken to a hospital and died. The Mercury’s driver, a 23-year-old Manassas man, stayed at the scene of the crash and did not report being injured, Prince William County police said.

Hood was crossing the road outside of a designated crosswalk, and speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
