Capitals players Nicklas Backstrom, Alex Semin and David Steckel were spotted sitting in the cushy Center Field Lounge at Nationals Park Sunday night. Steckel enjoyed a Miller Lite as the group mingled with the crowd and took pictures with admiring fans while supporting their fellow Washington pros. Steckel, despite his $512,500 salary, proved he’s an average Joe by taking Metro home after the game — just like the ads tell you to.

Rounding up news from other local folks:

» Before she returned to the Capitol after Congress’ spring break of sorts, Speaker Nancy Pelosi stopped by George’s Salon in Georgetown Monday morning to get all prettied up. She lives nearby, at the Georgetown Harbour.

» Who can still bring right and left together? Mick and Keith, that’s who. Americans for Tax Reform’s Grover Norquist and Media Matters’ David Brock are co-hosting a premiere of Martin Scorcese’s new Rolling Stones concert flick, “Shine a Light,” tonight at Gallery Place.

» Atlantic Media’s Ron Brownstein is showing off his artistic side these days: He’s hosting a reception for L.A.-based Daniel Maltzman at his home on April 12. Of course, given Brownstein’s reputation, politics, of course, creeps in somewhere. One of the pieces Maltzman will show is a Warhol-esque work titled “Clinton v. Obama.”
