Schwarzenegger dodges when asked if he backs Trump

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declined to say on Sunday whether he supports presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I will make an announcement before the election, you can be sure of that,” the Austria-born Republican told NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “But I will do it my way. Which is always an unusual way,” he added.

Asked whether he endorses Trump as the GOP nominee, Schwarzenegger said he plans to “study to various different candidates [and] what they represent.”

“I will then make up my mind and I would make the endorsement,” he said.

The former governor previously endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich in the Republican primary and even joined him on the campaign trail in the Buckeye State. In mid-March, Schwarzenegger walked off an interview with an Australia-based morning show upon being asked to weigh in on Trump.

“This is an interview that I only do about fitness and health, not about politics or my relationships,” he said at the time.
