MALTA, N.Y. (AP) — Construction at a high-tech industrial complex in upstate New York has been halted after a 54-year-old man was killed in a construction accident.
State police say troopers were called around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the Global Foundries complex in the Saratoga County town of Malta, 20 miles north of Albany.
Police say a six-man crew employed by John Danforth Construction of Tonawanda was moving an industrial air exchanger into a fourth-floor opening when the accident occurred.
Troopers say Michael Hauf of the town of Saranac in Clinton County was killed. Officials haven’t released other details of the accident.
All construction has been suspended at Global Foundries, a sprawling facility that manufactures computer chips.
