The Nats (32-69) finish up a four-game series in Milwaukee this afternoon with – surprise, surprise – a chance to take three of four games from the Brewers (50-51), who are fading from playoff contention with six teams in front of them for the National League wild-card berth.
Of course, today’s game could be overshadowed by the MLB trade dealine, looming at 4 p.m. on Friday. Is it too late for Washington to find takers for first baseman Nick Johnson or outfielder Josh Willingham – or slugger Adam Dunn for that matter? Despite what general manager Mike Rizzo said earlier this month, no player, other than third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, is off limits when a team is headed for 100 losses two years in a row. More likely, Rizzo is in line for a minor move. Maybe utility man Willie Harris heads to a contender who can use his versatility off the bench during a playoff push. All remains to be seen. For now, here are the lineups from Miller Park.
