Commercial real estate firms — in an effort to drum up interest and attract potential buyers to their properties — have traditionally gone the route of holding gala events, golf outings and luncheons at the new locations.
St. John Properties is taking some of the area’s real estate professionals down a different route.
The Baltimore-based developer on Saturday will host the inaugural Baltimore Crossroads@95 5K Cross Country Challenge Race at the Baltimore Crossroads@95 business community near White Marsh.
“I haven’t heard of a real estate company holding a 5K run. Normally they’re only for disease research or for charity,” said Jerry Wit, senior vice president of marketing and leasing for St. John.
The race will benefit the Baltimore County Police Athletic League and the Essex-Middle River-White Marsh Chamber of Commerce, but the main goal of the event it to showcase the contract and leasing progress of the 1,000-acre mixed-use business community.
The business park features five million square feet of flex/office, office, research and development, warehouse and industrial space, along with approximately 400,000 square feet of retail space.
About 425 people have registered for the race, including about 40 people from Baltimore’s real estate community, Wit said.
Registration is still open to runners for $35 on www.charmcityrun.com. The races begin Saturday at 9 a.m.
