Obamacare is clearly one of the most important political issues among independents this election season. But what do independent voters consider the second most important issue? According to one metric, it’s the Ground Zero mosque. Pollster Doug Schoen has the results, from his latest work:
If you disagreed with a candidate on putting a mosque near Ground Zero, could you still vote for him if you agreed with him on all other issues? That is, could you still vote for the candidate if you disagreed with him on putting a mosque near Ground Zero?

The next issue — third — of great importance was government spending and size of government.
The pollsters also polled the Ground Zero mosque among independents. “Do you strongly favor, somewhat favor, somewhat oppose or strongly oppose Ground Zero?” Schoen asked the respondents. 64 percent oppose it, while only 21 percent favor it.
