Veteran NBC newsman Tom Brokaw is clearly aware of the challenges of breaking into the news business today. When NBC’s David Gregory asked him how he would do it Wednesday at the Atlantic’s Washington Ideas Forum, he had only this to say: “I think I’d try to get into medical school.” Brokaw called the wrenching transformation of news media brought about by the Internet “the second big bang.”
