A liberal down in deep red Alabama, Doug Jones knows that Republican voters will never listen to him. So, the Democratic Senate nominee let Republican leaders speak for him.
The Jones campaign released a new 30-second ad quoting Ivanka Trump, Sen. Richard Shelby (Alabama’s senior senator and a Republican), and Alabama’s favorite son, Attorney General Jeff Sessions. It’s a gut punch, the kind of body blow designed to leave Moore wheezing and his diehard supporters reconsidering.
“There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children,” says Ivanka Trump. “I have no reason to doubt these women,” says the next soundbite from Sessions. And I “absolutely will not” vote for Roy Moore says Shelby, rounding out the ad.
The epitome of show-don’t tell, the Jones ad makes the simple case to voters that if a beloved first daughter and two chosen sons can’t bring themselves to support Moore in light of allegations he had dalliances with underage girls, how can they?
It’s simple and, with three weeks ahead of election day, it looks brutally effective.
