Caps 3, Sharks 1

Alex Ovechkin scored the fastest consecutive goals of his career when he struck twice in the second period 28 seconds apart. Credit linemates Mike Knuble and Brendan Morrison for creating those chances. Each ended up with a pair of assists. Semyon Varlamov has looked steady in goal so far in relief of the injured Jose Theodore. And, yes, San Jose did in fact get two power plays in the first seven minutes of the second period. But the Caps PK was up to the challenge. Now they need to hold the Sharks off for another 20 minutes to earn the win.
