ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Police say they seized $160,000 worth of heroin when they busted up a ring that sold the drug from taxi cabs at Albany-area malls.
Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says officers seized about a pound of heroin in raids at homes in suburban Colonie and Coeymans on Thursday.
The sheriff said the ring relied on drug-addicted cabbies to sell heroin at Crossgates and Colonie Center malls, with customers sometimes lining up outside the cabs.
Apple says seven people were arrested, including the ring leader. He said at least 20 people were involved in the ring and more arrests are expected.
