Who: San Jose State University What: The university will be using a $1.2 million federal grant to train professors at Herat University in western Afghanistan to teach modern journalism techniques — once its safe for them to travel there.

Why it’s an outrage: Afghanistan needs a lot of things, but imported journalism professors from Silicon Valley should be at the bottom of the list.
