MALONE, N.Y. (AP) — A burial with full military honors will be held at a northern New York cemetery for a Korean War casualty whose remains returned to the North Country this week.
The Pentagon announced last week that the remains of Master Sgt. Lawrence Jock were identified in June. The 37-year-old World War II combat veteran from Fort Covington was lost in battle in July 1953 in North Korea.
Pentagon official say his remains were among roughly those returned to the U.S. by the North Korean government in the early 1990s.
On Wednesday, hundreds of people lined Malone’s streets as a hearse carrying Jock’s remains completed the trip from the Albany airport to Spaulding Funeral Home.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held afterward at St. John Bosco Cemetery.
