NEW YORK (AP) — A woman who allegedly abandoned her toddler on a Bronx street has been arrested.

Police say the 2-year-old boy was found in a blue stroller around 5:30 a.m. Monday, about half a block from Lincoln Hospital.

His mother, 29-year-old Diana Paniagua, was arrested later. She faces charges of reckless endangerment and child abandonment.

It wasn’t immediately known if she had a lawyer.

The child was examined at a hospital and turned over to the city’s child welfare agency.

A woman who identified herself as the baby’s godmother said Paniagua wasn’t capable of abandoning her child.
