Speaking on the House floor Thursday, Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel noted that as president of the Texas Rangers, President Bush was the lone “no” vote against adding the wild card to the baseball playoff system in 1993, at which point the future politician said, “History will prove me right.”
Emanuel went on to note how successful the wild card has been. And then, making one of the more tortured connections we’ve seen, Emanuel continued, “Bush sings a very similar tune about Iraq,” having said in March 2006, “History will prove whether I’m right.”
