Virginia named most “pro-business state”

The Commonwealth may have gotten bumped to No. 2 by Texas in CNBC’s 2010 “top states for business” rankings, but an Illinois-based corporate real estate firm ranked Virginia at the top of its 2010 list of most “pro-business states.”

The study evaluates and ranks states based on 31 factors, including taxes, human resources, right-to-work legislation, energy costs, infrastructure spending, workers compensation laws, economic incentive programs and state economic development effort.

“Pollina has pointed out what we’ve known here in Virginia for a long time—that we are the best state in America for business,” Gov. Bob McDonnell said. “That’s no small feat in such a tough economy.”
