Remember former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford? He was the two-term Republican who back in 2009 made national headlines when he went “missing” for several days and pretended to be on a hike on the Appalachian Trail but was really having an affair in Argentina with a former journalist named Maria Belen Chapur who he told reporters “he will die knowing his soul mate.” Yeah, that guy.Well, after being out of office for almost a year, he is apparently ready to make a comeback and you can expect to see a lot more of the unfaithful father of four this election season. He won’t be making news this time (we don’t think) but rather will be contributing to it as a political commentator for Fox News Channel. A spokesperson for the cable news network confirmed over the weekend that Sanford was hired to be their new political commentator through the duration of the 2012 presidential elections. The spokesperson would not comment on his salary or start date.
