Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said Donald Trump was the winner of Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate.

“Some people think I won, but I’ll leave that to others,” a fired-up Pence said in Virginia, the home of his Democratic opponent Tim Kaine. “What I can tell you is from where I sat, Donald Trump won the debate.”

The Indiana governor said Trump called to congratulate him on his performance onstage, which Pence said “really meant the world to me.”

The next presidential debate featuring Trump and Hillary Clinton is set for Sunday night at Washington University in St Louis, Mo.
