FISHKILL, N.Y. (AP) — Benedict Arnold, Nathan Hale and espionage in the Hudson Valley during the Revolutionary War are topics planned for a program hosted by a group preserving the history of an 18th-century military site.
The Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot are sponsoring Sunday afternoon’s two-hour program, “Traitors and Spies: An American Revolutionary War Experience,” being held at the Hyatt House Fishkill in Dutchess County.
Speakers include Stephen Case, author of a book on Peggy Shippen, Benedict Arnold’s wife, and Damien Cregeau, a historian who will discuss spying in and around New York City during the war. Also speaking will be Connecticut historian Rachel Smith, who’ll talk about the legacy of Nathan Hale, the American officer hung by the British for being spy.
The Fishkill group is researching the American soldiers buried where the depot was located.
