Nats pregame: vs. Marlins, 8/12/10

Published August 12, 2010 4:00am ET

This is Washington Examiner intern Nabeel Ahmadieh, out at Nationals Park helping with our coverage of tonight’s game – weather permitting, of course. After losing the first two games of the series by a combined 10 runs to the Florida Marlins, the Nationals try to get a win in the final game of the series. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Veteran right-hander Livan Hernandez (8-7, 3.03 ERA) will be on the mound tonight for the Nats against the franchise where he began his career in 1996.  Ricky Nolasco (12-8, 4.57 ERA) will be the opposing pitcher.

Josh Willingham is not in the starting lineup, but will be available for pinch-hitting duties again. Willingham doubled as a pinch hitter in last night’s 9-5 loss before being replaced with a pinch runner.

Washington manager Jim Riggleman had this to say about Willingham’s sore left knee: “He’s chomping at the bit to go, he wants to play today. But just being real conservative with it.  I’m going to give him one more day.”

The sun is still out here at Nationals Park and the tarp was just removed from the field, but thunderstorm watches and warnings blanket the region. Neither team will take outdoor batting practice. Here are tonight’s lineups.
