Frank s day comes late

The Chairman of the Board” is getting his due from Congress — even if it’s overdue. On May 13 the new Frank Sinatra commemorative stamp was issued and, to the delight of fans, May 13 is now Frank Sinatra day. Ironically, Ol’ Blue Eyes’ day wasn’t declared until almost a week later. Rep. Jose Serrano, D-N.Y., introduced a resolution expressing congressional support for the day, but action was delayed, and the measure wasn’t placed on the House calendar until Monday night, when it was expected to pass.

And alas, it looks like it was a one-shot deal. A spokesman for Serrano explained that there is no intention of official Sinatra festivities in the future.

For many enthusiastic Sinatra fans, this disappointment got right under their skin.
