Who: Jonathan Woodson, President Obama’s assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.

Why: In advance of first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, he said that the The Department of Defense considers obesity to be a “national security issue.”

Why its Dim: In the last decade, we have somehow found enough not-too-chubby soldiers to fight two wars and maintain enormous, probably excessive military presences in Europe and Asia at the same time.

The Cure: A bit less hysterical talk about obesity.
