A forklift operator was killed at a construction site on the campus of Georgetown University.
Shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, D.C. fire and rescue units were dispatched for a report of an injured person at an underground industrial site under a new science center near the student center, 3800 block of Reservoir Road, D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said.
When rescue crews arrived on the scene, co-workers were performing CPR on a 36-year-old woman. Construction crews told officials that the worker, a 36-year-old woman, was operating a fork lift and became pinned between an overhead railing and scaffolding.
She was taken to George Washington Hospital trauma Center, where she later died.
D.C. police are conducting a death investigation.
