State polling: Obama would lose if election today

When last month’s job report was released, Warren Buffet told Bloomberg News, that President Obama “would not like the election to be held today.” A slew of recent state polls proves Buffet right. A plurality of voters in seven swing states now either say Obama does not deserve reelection, or they prefer former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney outright. If Obama were to lose all of these states: Florida, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, Obama would lose the Electoral College vote 287 to 251.

Here are the poll results:

  • In Florida, Quinnipiac finds that voters say Obama does not deserve to be reelected by a 50 – 42 margin. He is tied with Romney at 44 head-to-head.
  • In Iowa, Mason-Dixon finds Obama trails Romney in a head-to-head matchup 41 to 39 percent.
  • In Michigan, EPIC/MRA finds Romney beating Obama 46 to 42 percent.
  • In New Hampshire, Public Policy Polling finds Obama trails Romney 46-44.
  • In North Carolina, Public Policy Polling finds that even though Obama is currently tied with Romney at 45 percent, 74 percent of undecided voters disapprove of Obama’s job as president.
  • In Ohio, Quinnipiac finds that voters do not believe Obama deserves reelection by a 47 – 46 margin.
  • In Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac finds that Romney is beating Obama 44 – 42 percent.
