MADRID (AP) — Alejandro Blanco has been re-elected as president of the Spanish Olympic Committee for a second four-year term, as Madrid seeks to win the right to host the 2020 Summer Games.
Blanco, who has been in charge of the committee since 2005, ran unopposed for Thursday’s vote.

Blanco says Spain’s economic crisis represent a challenge but that “we are now facing four more years in which the good news will outweigh the bad.”
The Spanish capital is bidding for the Olympic Games for a third straight time. It is a finalist along with Istanbul and Tokyo for the decision to be announced on Sept. 7 in Buenos Aires.
