MegaBus making mega bucks on Thanksgiving

MegaBus, the cheap express bus company based on the East Coast, says its doing “fantastic” business for this Thanksgiving.

“We’re doing unprecedented numbers — we’re well up from last year,” said Edward Hodgson, director of operations at megabus.com.

“We have double the number of buses running that we normally have and that’s spread across most routes,” he added. “We’re especially strong out of New York [City], Chicago, Philadelphia and D.C.”

He noted, however, that while the company does what it can to keep customers comfortable and pad the schedules, Megabuses have no secret solution to getting stuck in the massive traffic typical of the day before Thanksgiving.

But, if you booked your ticket for $1, can you really be that mad?

Megabus.com serves nearly 50 cities in North America and offers online fares starting from $1. Last week the company announced it was expanding its Washington service and now serves 13 cities from its hub here.

The company was started in 2006 and is a subsidiary of Coach USA.
