Dim Bulb: Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn.

Who: Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn. What: At Thursday’s congressional hearing on Islamic terrorism, Ellison tearfully cited Pakistani-born Mohammed Salman Hamdanim, who died on 9/11 while assisting rescue efforts at the World Trade Center, as an example of a patriotic American Muslim who suffered vitriolic attacks because he was Muslim.

Why it’s dim: When National Review did a Google search, the magazine found thousands of Web references to Hamdani as a hero, but none accusing him of being a terrorist.

Cure: A tissue — and a fact checker.
