In partial returns, Donald Trump is running ahead of Mitt Romney in partial returns from Clay, Greene, Lawrence and Miami Counties, Ind. That’s about 20 percent ahead of 2012 losing Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock and 5-10 percent better than Romney in 2012. But Trump doesn’t seem to be running perceptibly ahead of Romney in Kentucky counties.
One difference between the states: Indiana, though expected to go for Trump, has seriously contested senator and governor races. Kentucky doesn’t.
