Strange Shibuya

The World Ends With You” is another example of the brilliant ideas in gameplay Japan still has to offer.

You play as Neku, an independent kid who’s lost his memory and must participate in a seven-day game with the Reapers to earn his way back into the real world.

Waking up in an alternate version of Tokyo’s Shibuya District every day for a new mission, you use pins (think pogs that function like materia) to use psychs (spell-like abilities that vary  from telepathy to dropping boulders from the sky).

The music is great and matches the modern street feel of the game.

Style is key as fighting makes the brands of clothing you wear and pins you have equipped more trendy and therefore stronger.

The game is brilliant and perfectly designed for the DS. The intricate and emotional story alone is worth picking this title up.
