The former chief of staff to D.C. Councilman Jim Graham has been released from prison after serving an eight-month term for taking bribes as a public official.
Ted Loza, who pleaded guilty to accepting $1,500 in cash from a taxi industry was released Monday, according to the Bureau of Federal Prisons inmate locator.
Loza was Graham’s chief of staff when he was caught on tape via a hidden camera accepting a bribe from an FBI informant outside city hall. The informant, Abdul Kamus, had been supplying Loza with money in order to court favor for legislation benefitting a group of cab drivers.
One tape shows Loza accepting a payment in June 2009 while inside a car. A second tape shows him meeing with Kamus in a vehicle outside the Wilson Building and handing him a draft copy of the legislation while accepting more more money.
Loza pleaded guilty in February 2011 and faced up to 14 months in prison.
