MSNBC: Minority Voters Disenfranchised, Problems at Polls

Election Day has just begun, but MSNBC is already saying it’s a “fact” that minority voters are being disenfranchised in Texas:

“This voter I.D. law, I can tell you for a fact, is going to disenfranchise voters–disproportionately minority voters,” MSNBC reporter Zach Roth said live from Texas.

“I met with a number of voters yesterday–would-be voters–who told me about the remarkable sort of bureaucratic nightmares they had gone through in making real efforts to get ID and being unable to do so.

“The other thing that’s going on already this morning: we’re seeing problems at the polls. At this site here, for a good while, about 20 minutes, all of the machines were out. For most of the morning they’ve only had two working. And voters have been waiting up to an hour.

“I’m told the same is true at two other sites around the Houston area. So the voter ID law and the effect of these problems at the polls is going to put a damper on turnout.”
