Labor has ‘serious concerns’ about Gorsuch

The AFL-CIO said Wednesday it had “serious concerns” about federal appeals court Judge Neil Gorsuch, President Trump’s nominee to file a vacant spot on the Supreme Court.

The nation’s largest labor federation held off on saying that it formally opposed him, however, saying it would continue “digging deeply” into his record.

“We are deeply troubled that President Trump, who ran his campaign on being a friend to working people, has chosen his nominee from among a group vetted and approved by organizations like the Heritage Foundation and Federalist Society,” said AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka.

Trumka said the 10th Circuit Court appeals judge “does not seem to appreciate the issues and challenges facing working families” and that his rulings “raise very serious concerns” about his stances on worker rights and workplace safety, among other issues.
