Art Smith’s super secret wedding

After more than 10 years together, celebrity chef Art Smith will tie the knot with his longtime partner, artist Jesus Salguerio, on Saturday. The details about the affair are hush-hush, according to his PR reps, who could only tell us “since it is a private wedding event, the information about Art’s wedding this weekend is embargoed until after the event.”

But the two-time James Beard Award winner is spilling some of the secrets for the weekend extravaganza on his Facebook page.

“So strange how we always go back to simple things! I was planning this big affair, now I’m thinking simple, southern and lots of delicious food. Do I serve punch or mint juleps? My dear beloved late friend Ashby Stiff made the best mint juleps ever! XOOXART”

Smith put his heart and soul into planning the festivities for the big day. The event will begin with a wedding run on the National Mall, where each guest will receive a pair of Kicks from Nike (which we’re told, is one of the event’s sponsors). For those who would rather ride, Smith suggested his guests rent bicycles from Bike and Roll and National Pedicabs. We hear the guest DJ for the rooftop reception is Moby. Yeas & Nays called Moby’s publicist, who couldn’t confirm.

Also unconfirmed? The guest list. There are reports that sponsorship offer letters were distributed to PR firms to raise money for Smith’s charity, Common Threads. A source told Yeas & Nays the letter listed Oprah Winfrey as one of the invited, but Harpo spokesman Don Halcombe said, “I am unable to confirm her schedule or plans.”
