President-elect Trump defended his Twitter habit on Monday, and said he wouldn’t need to use the medium so much if the news media covered him fairly.

“If the press would cover me accurately & honorably, I would have far less reason to ‘tweet,'” he wrote Monday on Twitter. “Sadly, I don’t know if that will ever happen!”

Trump is regularly criticized, often by reporters, for using Twitter to weigh in on matters big and small, often using inflammatory language and omitting context.

Much of last week’s news coverage was dominated by discussion over one of Trump’s tweets that said Americans who burn the U.S. flag should possibly be subject to losing their citizenship.

In the past, Trump has admitted his fondness for social media, especially Twitter, saying it allows him to bypass the news media and communicate directly with his followers.
