SoberRide for St. Patty’s Day

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will offer free cab rides to St. Patrick’s Day revelers who’ve had a little too much green beer to drive themselves home safely.

The SoberRide program will be available beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, St. Patrick’s Day, and continue until 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Drivers 21-and-up can call SoberRide at 800-200-TAXI (8294) during the 12-hour period for a free cab ride whose fare would be worth up to $30. In 2011, 547 people used the program.

Cab rides will be available in the District, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, and in Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties in northern Virginia.
