One dead after Northwest D.C. fire

A man was killed in a fire at a Northwest D.C. rowhouse, officials said.

About 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, firefighters went to a home located at 333 Webster St. The fire was contained to the building’s first floor, and it has since been extinguished, D.C. Battalion Chief Brian Lee said.

According to media reports, a man was found dead underneath furniture in a home with hoarding conditions. He had told neighbors that he planed to cook a turkey.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
