Jon Stewart mocks the ‘outrage reserves’ politics of the Keystone pipeline

Jon Stewart went on another of his rants about the politics of the Keystone Pipeline.

Although Stewart made cracks about “The dirtiest of dirty oils,” he also spent a little time mocking the handwringing of environmental activists. “This country already has Mario Brother levels of pipey-ness—adding the Keystone into the mix would be like farting into a manure factory.”

And he had a laugh over Sen. Barbara Boxer’s (D-Calif.) doomsday-heavy floor speeches about the pipeline. “Our childrennnnn,” Stewart joked. “They’re so contaminated we should seal them up in a drum and bury them under Nevada! Start with some new kids.”

“It’s a lesson for activists that even in a relatively zero-sum fight, if you can tap into our country’s vast outrage reserves, you can take a fight that should’ve last just one day and miraculously make it last eighteen hundred.”
