A website is keeping track of whether Republican Roy Moore has conceded the U.S. Senate special election in Alabama to Democrat Doug Jones.
Searching hasroymooreconcededyet.com will direct a web user to a page that says “NO” in a large, bold font.
“On Tuesday, December 12, 2017, Roy Moore ran as the Republican party candidate for a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama. Moore was defeated by Doug Jones, the Democrat party candidate. Jones defeated Moore by approximately 20,000 votes,” the website says.
Moore released a statement and video Wednesday night repeating his election night refusal to back down. “In this race, we have not received the final count to include military and provisional ballots,” he said. “This has been a very close race and we are awaiting certification by the secretary of state.”
Despite Moore’s insistence on waiting for a possible recount, Secretary of State of Alabama John Merrill has said that the outcome of the election will likely not change.
