A man assaulted his wife Thursday evening, set their house on fire and then took his own life, Prince George’s County police said.
Firefighters responded to the 5300 block of Lorraine Drive in Temple Hills and were told by dispatchers that there also were reports of shots fired and a possible domestic situation, Prince George’s County Fire/EMS officials said.
While crews were battling the fire at the two-story, single-family home, a man was found with a gunshot wound, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported, police said, and the woman was out of the house as firefighters battled the blaze.
