Moments ago, a protester got on a bullhorn and beseeched the “Occupiers” assembled in McPherson Square, off K St., near the White House, to join an impromptu march on the Federal Reserve in Washington (though there was some confusion as to where the Fed HQ is located). My buddy “LeRon” quipped this “edgy” crowd should heed the call to “Occupy H Street.!“, instead. (He meant H St., NE, the music venue destination strip, not H St., NW, near the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters, near the protesters.)
It’s now fashionable to bash the Fed from the Left, but as Ron Paul’s long-time bête noire, the call mustered up a guy in the Revolution-era garb – tri-corner hat, flag festooned with the text of the Declaration of Independence; the sort that shows up to Tea Party rallies.
It probably a safe betting that this character’s politics is a mixed bag of fringe causes and concerns, but from that pic above (Sign reads: “FED OWNS OBAMA!”) the late libertarian anarchist Murray Rothbard must be smiling somewhere, enthused once more that his envisioned extreme Right/far Left radical anti-state coalition is finally coalescing.
