A Yeas and Nays spy alerted us to quite a scene outside the Four Seasons in Georgetown this weekend.

“There were hundreds of bags arrayed all over the sidewalks and plaza in front of and adjacent to the hotel,” she said. “I asked, ‘What’s going on? Are they kicking everybody out of the hotel?’”

No, in fact it was a just a visit by Hamad Bin Isa al-Khalifa, otherwise known as the king of Bahrain. The bags, it appears, belonged to the king and his traveling party — all 99 of them, to be exact.

“There were limos EVERYWHERE,” says our source. “It was an invasion.”

According to a State Department spokeswoman, the king was in town for a meeting and a signing ceremony at Foggy Bottom on Monday afternoon. He meets with the president on Tuesday.
