House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., who endorsed Trump earlier this month, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that he is not going to try to convince others in his party to support Trump.
“The last thing I would do is tell anybody to do something that’s contrary to their conscience,” Ryan told host Chuck Todd.
He said he understands that “this is a very strange situation. This is a very unique nominee.”
Ryan said would like to see Donald Trump run a more inclusive campaign that inspires people, which could help him get more Republican supporters.
When asked what Trump could do to make him more comfortable supporting him, Ryan replied: “Run a campaign we can all be proud of. Run a campaign that’s inclusive and aspirational.”
