Admit it: If you happened upon a huge African python hanging out in your bathroom, you’d freak.

Such was the discovery that Veronica Rodriguez of College Station, Texas, made at her home one recent evening after shuttling inside and out to clean the cages of her daughter’s pet guinea pigs. She heard noises in the house that she suspected came from the animals, The Bryan-College Station Eagle reported, but her investigation turned up empty — up until the moment she flipped on the lights in the one place she hadn’t checked, her bathroom.

“As soon as I turned on the light, that’s when I saw it,” Rodriguez said about seeing the snake, according to The Eagle. “It was crawling into my tub.”

She dialed 911, and an officer arrived at a scene that evoked memories of “Jaws.”

“When the officer showed up, he came with a brown paper sack,” she said. “I told him, ‘You’re going to need a bigger sack than that.'”

The creature, which officer Tony Gonzales said was 12 feet in length, was eventually moved inside a city trash can overnight before being picked up by animal control in the morning. It’s since been returned to its owner.

No guinea pigs were harmed, and a reptile expert at Texas A&M University said the snake didn’t pose much of a risk to adults, though it could have posed one to small children. Rodriguez, 50, is the mother of a high school senior.
