The Center for Immigration Studies’ Mark Krikorian is always the first voice I seek out whenever any immigration news breaks. No conservative stays on top of the issue better than he does. Here is what Krikorian had to say about former-Gov. Jeb Bush’s new book which comes out against granting citizenship to most of those currently in the country illegally:
But then, his handler, Angela Kelley, head of immigration matters at the Center for American Progress and a key White House proxy on the issue, leaned forward and whispered in Castro’s ear. After that, he changed his tune slightly, saying a path to citizenship was the best outcome but that a lesser status might be acceptable. It wouldn’t surprise me me if Angela Kelley and White House immigration coordinator Cecilia Munoz have actually done conference calls with staff for Rubio and Bush gaming out this strategy.
I do not have any strong ties into Jeb-world, but a Obama/Rubio/Bush conspiracy seems a bit far fetched to me. I think it is much more likely that Jeb is just honestly trying to grapple with this issue as best he can. As are House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and House Judiciary Committee member and immigration attorney Raul Labrador, R-Idaho. Both Labrador and Goodlatte have expressed support for solutions similar to the one Jeb outlines in his book.
Does Krikorian believe Tea Part favorite Labrador is in on the Obama/Bush immigration conspiracy too?
