Baltimore-Washington area consumers paid more for utility gas, electricity and gasoline in December than the average U.S. city, according to a federal study released Friday.
Local buyers spent 18.2 percent more on utility gas, 12.1 percent more on electricity, and 2.6 percent more for gas, the second consecutive December the area was above the national average.
The study found that gasoline prices fell to $1.78 in December, the lowest price in the last five years but up 75 cents from a decade ago. – Aaron Cahall
