Paul Ryan: ‘This is a disappointing day for us’

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Friday that the decision to pull the Obamacare replacement bill was a tough call for the GOP that made it a “disappointing day” for the party.

“I’ve said this before: moving from an opposition party to a governing party comes with growing pains, and well, we’re feeling those growing pains today,” Ryan said.

“We came really close today, but we came up short,” he said.

“I spoke to the president just a little while ago, and I told him that the best thing I think to do is to pull this bill, and he agreed with that decision,” Ryan added. “I will not sugarcoat this: this is a disappointing day for us.”

On what’s next fo Republicans, Ryan said, “Now we’re going to move on with the rest of our agenda.”
