DEATH TOLL: At least 41 people have died in Argentina from flooding caused by days of heavy rains in the province of Buenos Aires.
DETAILS: Cars were flooded and rainwater flowed over the windowsills into many houses in La Plata, the capital of the province. The country’s largest refinery has suspended operations. The flooding threatens to ruin food supplies across the La Plata metropolitan area. In the city of Buenos Aires, many had standing water in homes, basements, parking lots and storage rooms.
