Jack Johnson, the former Prince George’s County executive serving time in prison for his pay-to-play schemes while leading the county government, was disbarred from practicing law in the District.
A panel of judges on the the District Court of Appeals issued the ruling Thursday morning.
Johnson is serving an 87-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to his role in wide-ranging schemes to extort developers in Prince George’s County, acts that a judge described as pure cronyism.
He was caught on tape instructing his wife, Leslie, to flush a $100,000 check down the toilet and stuff $79,600 in her bra and underwear in a futile attempt to evade FBI agents.
The panel, which noted Johnson failed to report his criminal conviction to the court, found Johnson’s actions constituted “crimes of moral turpitude.”
Johnson was disbarred from practicing law in Maryland in January.
